Material Planner Buyer
About The Position
Using MRP Purchasing experience, the Material Planner/Buyer will help maintain supply inventory levels and handle vendor negotiations. The Material Planner/Buyer will work within the company’s purchasing policies and procedures and on cross-functional teams. Requirements
- At least two years’ experience in Planning/Purchasing
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Proven history of effective supply management
- Outstanding organizational skills
- A strong analytical mindset
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Nice To Haves
- BS degree in business or supply chain preferred
Responsibilities
- Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics
- Review and maintain purchasing agreements with vendors
- Assess supplier profiles and analyze and compare multiple quotations
- Measure supplier performance based on quality, service and deliveries
- Determine optimal stocking quantities based on several factors including sales history, seasonality, input from sales, product experience and knowledge. This analysis will require a strong analytical and common-sense approach.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors
- Develop an active process for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs based on annual numbers
- Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders, and contact vendors when there are discrepancies
- Participate in or lead product innovation projects
