This position will primarily provide support to the Landscape Services Department by diverting materials from landfills, such as cardboard, shredded paper, office paper, bottles, cans, pallets, etc. Daily duties include, but are not limited to: completion of work orders, collecting pallets, and servicing trash and recycling pedestrian cans on pedestrian can route; cleaning and maintaining dumpster enclosures; litter pickup from campus grounds. Overtime is an essential function of this position and may require work during non-business hours (evenings, weekends, & when OSU is closed). Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies (emergencies can frequently involve difficult working conditions). This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors, and loud noises. Must be able to perform snow and ice removal tasks, and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management; therefore, deeming you as essential personnel, requiring you to come into work regardless of the weather conditions. Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during non-business hours, which include evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, and when the University is closed. Appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment), gloves, safety glasses, etc., are provided for use in the workplace. Must adhere to all safety requirements and promote work safety. All other duties as assigned.
