About The Position

Looking for a motivated, skilled Material Mover to join the Facilities Management Moves and Special Events department on the Oklahoma State University campus! This position provides labor to move materials as required by various University departments. Will be responsible for safely operating vans, trucks, utility vehicles, trailers and other equipment to collect and/or relocate campus materials. Responsible for maintaining departmental equipment and report any damage, malfunction, and/or safety issues to the Assistant Supervisor. Required to use electronic hand device to record daily notes on work orders for reporting purposes. Provides physical labor necessary to set up and take down staging and equipment for campus special events. Must work well with students, faculty & staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, collaborative environment. The employee in this position may be required to work overtime after 4 pm, and/or shift work when management deems necessary. The ability to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of weather will be required. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Regular exposure to disagreeable conditions, extreme temperature changes, odors and loud noises. Requirements

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Three years of related job duties, as stated above.
  • At least one year of experience at OSU Facilities Management or equivalent and demonstrated supervisory ability.
  • FM Leadership Program Completion.
  • Forklift certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver’s license.
  • A valid driver’s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.
  • Frequently communicates with customers and employees who have inquiries on work, so they must be able to communicate information accurately with a friendly & positive demeanor.
  • Ability to become proficient in the use of “AiM” Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with departmental representatives.
  • Must work safely, adhere to all safety requirements, and promote a safe work environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good decision-making skills, as well as the ability to seek help, communicate with people, and work around moving machinery.
  • Must adhere to all safety requirements and promote work safety.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally.

Nice To Haves

  • Post Secondary Education with three to five years of related experience (i.e., moving heavy materials, working in a warehouse setting, setting up events, etc.)
  • Proficient in working with computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Forklift Certification
