About The Position

Under the direction of the Receiving & Shipping Supervisor, the Material Handling Tech is responsible for operating a forklift to take material and then load, unload, and move it to a designated area on the shop floor, meeting customer requirements. This role involves operating a multi-directional forklift, loading and unloading material by hand, and potentially using an overhead crane. The position requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, work closely with team members, and communicate efficiently. Safety is paramount, requiring compliance with safety regulations, wearing appropriate PPE, checking for hazards, and maintaining a clean and safe work area at the end of the shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior forklifting experience required
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operating a multi-directional forklift moving material from one destination to another
  • Loads and unloads material onto or form pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand
  • Ability to use an overhead crane
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Work closely with team members and communicates in an efficient way
  • Being able to safely move material to specific destinations in the shop
  • Comply with safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE at all times
  • Check work area for hazards
  • Leave work area in a clean/safe state when shift is complete
