About The Position

The Material Handling Supervisor manages a team of material handlers across two shifts to achieve department objectives and meet internal and external customer needs. The role oversees material handling operations, staffing, communication, performance management, and continuous improvement. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position using a 10-hour-day, four-day-a-week shift model. All shifts are Monday through Thursday. Shift hours vary, and the supervisor is expected to arrive early or stay late as needed; salaried employees work approximately 45 hours per week. The position does not require travel.

Responsibilities

Manage material handling operations and follow established procedures and processes to meet department requirements.
Ensure appropriate staffing, including overtime, vacation coverage, and absenteeism coverage.
Conduct monthly staff meetings about quality expectations, production goals, and company announcements.
Coordinate activities with production leaders in other departments.
Instruct material handlers in correct and safe operations.
Lead by example.
Maintain open communication with the material handling team to support employee growth, address personnel issues, and ensure smooth department operations.
Recommend improvements to operations and efficiency and ways to reduce costs.
Evaluate and solve problems within the material handling department.
Manage a team of material handling employees across two shifts and oversee performance management.
