About The Position

Astro Machine Works is a growing 100% Employee-Owned Company located in Ephrata, PA. Founded in 1984, we are a comprehensive machining and fabrication facility specializing in custom machine building, machined parts and fabrication. Astro Machine Works is seeking a Full Time Material Handler to support the Operations, Project Management, Shipping/Receiving and Buildings and Grounds departments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess and maintain a valid PA driver’s license with safe driving history
  • Experience with forklift and pallet jack
  • Understanding of shop mathematics together with engineering drawings, specifications, and various types of precision measuring instruments
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to follow written or verbal instructions, to communicate effectively with transportation vendors and legibly complete required paperwork
  • Customer Service Skills for internal customers
  • Willingness to work Overtime and Saturdays as required
  • Ability to lift, push, pull 100lbs
  • Performing General Physical Activities — Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Handling and Moving Objects — Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
  • Identifying Objects, Actions, and Events — Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events.

Nice To Haves

  • Carpentry skills, operating saw, hand tools, etc. a plus

Responsibilities

  • Moving stock, finished goods or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks and delivery vehicles by hand or using trucks, forklift, pallet jack or other equipment.
  • Efficient flow of stock to manufacturing by utilizing established policies and procedures for receiving, storing, identifying and cutting of materials
  • Inspect the condition of raw stock and confirm materials received matches description on the receiving documentation.
  • Prioritize work and sequence of setups to achieve maximum efficiency
  • Assist with pre-measure for periodic and annual physical inventory of raw stock
  • Assist in other areas of manufacturing as required such as operating saw and other utility duties
  • Identify and apply rust preventatives when applicable and in conjunction with Project Managers
  • Transport finished or semi-finished products safety and with care to prevent damage
  • Checking in UPS and take to Building 3
  • Trash removal from all buildings
  • Work in a safe manner always following established policies and procedures
