About The Position
Material Handlers of Linen under the direction of Supply Chain Management receive, store, collect, track, and transport linen (sterile, clean, and/or soiled) and other supplies (surgical equipment, food service items, etc.) as needed throughout SJML including off-site locations. This role requires working well with teams, independently, efficiently, and in a safe manner. The position routinely utilizes computers, tracking software, handheld units, and associated Supply Chain equipment. There is a potential to be assigned to a linen/supply delivery route and driving a delivery van. Driving responsibilities include performing Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI), monitoring the physical condition of the van, and filling the van with gas. The ideal candidate will have a complete understanding and demonstrated proficiency of all area work tasks.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.

- Current MI Driver's License
- Prioritize assigned tasks and organize work.
Responsibilities
- Transports and delivers equipment, linen, scrubs, and supplies to all user departments from supply holding area.
- Responsible for unit inventories and coordination of linens to assure adequate daily par levels and supply needs.
- Works closely with Receiving Dock Handlers to coordinate flow of supplies, linen, and equipment to all user departments.
- Assists unloading Co-op laundry trucks and transports clean linen to the clean linen holding area.
- Prepares unit specific clean linen exchange carts following prescribed schedule and par level.
- Delivers clean linen exchange carts to specific department locations.
- Collects soiled linen daily from units and transports to dock.
- Transfers soiled linen from collection carts to Co-op laundry carts in preparation for transport to Co-op Laundry.
- Places linen replenishment orders with Co-op Laundry.
- Operates elevator to transport supplies to and from the designated areas.
- Maintains required distribution records.
- Answers telephone and responds to routine inquiries and maintains good Customer Service.
- Operates SJML van to transport linen and supplies to off-site locations.
- Performs Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI), monitoring physical condition of the truck, and filling van with gas.
- Potential to operate a power industrial type pallet jack to transport heavy supplies throughout SJML – training and certification provided if not already certified.
- Responsible for unit specific supply replenishment following prescribed schedule and par level.
