About The Position

The Material Handler stores and distributes materials and products throughout the manufacturing facility using a variety of material-handling equipment. The role involves reading production and shipping documents, moving and organizing materials, filling requests for stock items, and supporting workplace organization and departmental performance goals. This is an onsite, first-shift position. No travel is expected.

Requirements

• Successfully complete Vermeer forklift certification as required for the work location.
• Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to respond to questions from managers and suppliers.
• Be able to perform basic functions in Glovia.
• Be able to use problem-solving techniques.
• Be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and assess, evaluate, and take appropriate action for a given situation.
• Have the ability to obtain a Vermeer Forklift Operators License.

Responsibilities

• Read production schedules, work orders, shipping orders, and requisitions to determine which items need to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
• Move materials and items from receiving or production areas to designated locations throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Open boxes, crates, and other containers, then sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to documented standard work or a predetermined sequence.
• Fill requisitions, work orders, and requests for materials, tools, or other stock items, and distribute them to production work areas.
• Mark materials with identifying information.
• Weigh or count items for distribution to ensure they conform to standard work and company policy.
• Drive a forklift or other material-handling vehicles when necessary.
• Support departmental 5S and workplace-organization goals, and suggest and make improvements that help achieve departmental performance-board metrics.
