Material Handler
About The Position
Schwieters Companies is hiring a full-time Material Handler, internally called a Prefinish Material Handler, to work in its warehouse. The role involves preparing, loading, unloading, picking, inspecting, and tracking materials to support complete and on-time orders. The Material Handler works with a warehouse team and communicates with the department lead about work-order progress. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with overtime as needed. Pay is $20 per hour. This is a safety-sensitive position and requires passing a pre-employment background check and drug screen. Requirements
- Previous material handler or warehouse experience.
- Comfortable learning to operate a forklift.
- Good work history.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Self-motivated, self-directed team player and team builder.
- Able to understand and follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Capable of standing for extended periods.
- Flexible to work overtime when necessary.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
Responsibilities
- Prepare all material before loading it onto the shortline.
- Load and unload material properly onto and off the shortline.
- Be accountable for the product and assembly being handled.
- Pick material using a stand-up or sit-down forklift.
- Manage orders so they are completed in full and on time.
- Use a scanner gun to check inventory and adjust material locations correctly.
- Inspect all material for quality.
- Stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Communicate regularly with the department lead about work-order progress.
- Work with the warehouse team to support efficiency and complete, on-time deliveries.
