About The Position

The Material Handler receives and stores raw materials, parts, and components; pulls and delivers materials to manufacturing areas; and packs products for shipment to customers in accordance with company policies and procedures. The role also involves loading finished products, transporting materials or products to customers and vendors as required, and maintaining accurate receiving and shipping documentation. The Material Handler performs routine forklift inspections, completes assigned projects, follows safety and work rules, and maintains departmental housekeeping standards. Overtime may be needed to complete daily responsibilities.

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, safety rules, bills of materials, routings, procedure manuals, receiving and shipping paperwork, and memos.
• Ability to complete required receiving and shipping paperwork and documentation.
• Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations with other employees and truckers.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Receive raw materials, parts, and components; unload incoming trucks and move materials to proper storage locations.
• Pick materials or components according to work orders or customer orders and deliver them to manufacturing or shipping areas.
• Pack or crate completed parts, assemblies, or components for customer shipment using appropriate conventional packaging practices.
• Load finished products onto trucks or delivery vehicles for shipment.
• Pick up or deliver raw materials, parts, components, or finished products to customers or vendors as required.
• Perform routine inspections of forklift trucks to ensure they are in safe operating condition.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• Create, complete, and maintain required computer transactions, paperwork, and documents.
• Complete daily work responsibilities, working overtime as needed.
• Follow and comply with safety and work rules and regulations.
• Maintain departmental housekeeping standards.
