About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for moving material within a storage facility, sorting and distributing it according to work order instructions. This role involves operating a forklift, performing inventory counts, organizing materials, and ensuring system accuracy. The position requires adherence to safety standards and involves continuous physical exertion.

Requirements

• Knowledge of safety standards applicable to the work area and other pertinent rules/regulations governing work standards.
• Knowledge of receiving procedures.
• Knowledge of mathematics to add and subtract.
• Skill in driving lift trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to be safety conscious.
• High School Graduate or GED
• Plus one year of warehouse experience

Responsibilities

• Moves material within a storage facility to and from the loading area using a forklift truck.
• Sorts and distributes material to various areas following work order instructions.
• Counts, and records number of units of material moved or handled.
• Attaches identifying tag or labels to materials or marks information on pallets.
• Refuels lift truck and conducts safety inspections.
• Performs cycle counts and inventory to ensure material availability and system accuracy.
• Organizes materials in the assigned warehouse.
• Cross-trains along the line.
