About The Position

The Material Handler receives, stores, and distributes materials, tools, equipment, and products within the establishment. The role follows schedules and orders to determine what to receive, move, gather, or distribute; transports and organizes items; fulfills shipment orders; records inventory activity; and prepares parcels for shipment. The position also includes ordering facility supplies and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information; develop alternative solutions; and work effectively in group problem-solving situations.
• Use reason when dealing with emotional topics.
• Observe safety and security procedures, determine appropriate action beyond guidelines, and report potentially unsafe conditions.
• Use equipment and materials properly and only when authorized.

Responsibilities

• Read production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to receive, move, gather, or distribute.
• Convey materials from receiving areas to storage or other designated areas.
• Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences or identifying characteristics.
• Fill orders for daily shipment.
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place them on pallets or shelves, or convey them to packing or shipping areas.
• Mark materials with identifying information.
• Record materials received or distributed using a handheld RF gun.
• Weigh, count, or repack items for distribution within the plant to ensure they meet company standards.
• Use a computer or handheld device to enter or retrieve records.
• Compile worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
• Complete requisition forms to order facility supplies.
• Prepare parcels for less-than-truckload (LTL), mail, or express shipment.
• Maintain inventory records.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
