About The Position

Worthington Armstrong Venture (WAVE), a joint venture between Worthington Enterprises and Armstrong World Industries, is a leader in suspended ceiling systems, producing metal ceiling grids. Founded in 1992, WAVE operates under a philosophy rooted in the golden rule, fostering a strong employee-employer partnership. WAVE is seeking Material Handlers/Forklift Operators to join their team. The role involves accurately selecting, staging, and transporting materials for shipments, receipts, and warehouse operations, requiring safe and efficient operation of sit-down LP forklifts while maintaining high standards for accuracy, productivity, and safety. Training will be conducted on day shift initially, with regular shift hours being either Monday through Friday 10:30 PM - 6:30 AM or Monday through Friday 2:45 PM - 10:45 PM.

Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and heavy equipment; forklift certification or ability to become certified
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to following all safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to handle physical, repetitive work, including mounting and dismounting a forklift throughout an 8 hour shift
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs. using proper lifting techniques
  • Competent basic math skills
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed written and verbal instructions in English
  • Basic computer skills and ability to work with warehouse systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work in a fast paced warehouse environment
  • High school diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Prior warehouse, order selection, shipping, or material handling experience
  • Previous experience operating sit down LP forklifts

Responsibilities

  • Select, build, and stage orders using pick lists, RF scanners, and shipping documentation
  • Operate sit down LP forklifts in a safe and efficient manner
  • Stage, load, and unload materials for inbound and outbound shipments, including pallets, and other materials
  • Transport finished goods from manufacturing to designated warehouse locations (bulk floor locations and racking)
  • Verify order accuracy, quantities, and product condition prior to shipment or storage
  • Perform and document daily forklift and equipment inspections; report mechanical or safety issues promptly
  • Verify inbound and outbound paperwork against actual materials shipped or received and enter data into computer systems as required
  • Prepare damage reports and scrap or replace materials according to standard operating procedures
  • Develop and follow proper load configurations for outbound carriers to ensure safe transport
  • Support manufacturing operations by supplying materials, clearing finished goods, and removing scrap as needed
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas and equipment at all times
  • Follow all safety policies, job instructions (JI), lock out/tag out procedures, and PPE requirements
  • Actively participate in communication and WAVE culture
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed
