About The Position

The Material Handler II is responsible for the safe and accurate loading and unloading of product within the distribution center. This role involves processing customer orders using RF technology, picking and packing orders, and ensuring accuracy verification and shipment packaging. The position also includes pallet building, re-palletizing products for shipment, and potentially dock manifest duties. Inbound and outbound shipments are managed using the WMS, with an emphasis on safe and damage-free loading/off-loading. The role requires maintaining a clean work area, adhering to Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and following all safety instructions. Associates may receive Hazmat training and are expected to cross-train for other warehouse positions. The role operates in a temperature-controlled environment, including a refrigerated area.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience with MHE, including Order Pickers, Reach Trucks, Counter Balance (slip and clamp), and Dock Stocker.
  • Must be able to obtain Forklift Certification.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret distribution documents.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • May be required to operate MHE and use Voice/RF scanner.
  • Ability to perform/operate in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Basic analytical, organizational and prioritization skills.
  • General distribution knowledge.
  • Exposure to work near moving mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation.
  • Regularly exposed to walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, twisting, lifting.
  • Frequent use of hand to finger, handle, feel, pick or type, which can include repetitive motion of the wrists, hands or fingers.
  • May occasionally be required to climb.
  • May require lifting up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Process customer orders including scanning bar codes, picking and labeling boxes.
  • Pick, pack and process orders using RF technology.
  • Maintain an acceptable work area as outlined in SOP and work instructions.
  • Follow Good Documentation Practices (GDP) as outlined in SOP.
  • Complete necessary RF device training.
  • Perform accuracy verification and shipment packaging.
  • Palletize orders, including scanning and placing completed orders on pallets.
  • Re-palletize products for shipment.
  • Perform dock manifest duties, including scanning completed pallets and operating the shrink wrapper.
  • Transport pallets by MHE.
  • Load and unload inbound/outbound shipments utilizing the WMS.
  • Ensure safe loading/off-loading practices to prevent damage.
  • Complete assigned duties in a timely manner.
  • Operate the parcel manifest station.
  • Complete transportation documentation.
  • Operate material handling equipment in a safe manner.
  • Report any damage or maintenance issues with equipment immediately.
  • Maintain equipment neatness and order.
  • Maintain equipment certification at all times.
  • Perform job activities in a safe and reasonable manner.
  • Assist in maintaining warehouse security.
  • Report all injuries, accidents, unsafe acts, hazards, or conditions immediately.
  • Report any suspicious persons or activity.
  • Understand organizational quality goals.
  • Maintain a clean and professional image and facility cleanliness.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
  • May be provided with Hazmat training.
  • Become knowledgeable with the responsibilities of other warehouse positions.
  • Assist as required and act as back up during absences or vacations.
