About The Position

Under the supervision and direction of the Supervisor or Team Leads, the Material Handler is responsible for transporting, servicing, and preparing all bulk materials and components for the packaging lines. This role also includes returning unused bulk and components to the designated warehouse lanes and assisting with all packaging line operations as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-3 years of Material Handler experience
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • Strong work ethic, professional approach and ownership of line production performance.
  • Ability to read and comprehend SOP’s, Batch Records and training documents
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to understand basic math
  • Strong work ethics, a positive attitude, and willingness to learn and develop new skills are a requirement.
  • Team player; works well with others.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to operate powered equipment trucks safely and according to Company policy/procedure, to include electric/manual pallet jack/Stacker
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately read work orders and use RF guns to issue all components (except bulk) for a work order.
  • Use specified pick lists to verify all components and bulk.
  • Transport components to the appropriate packaging line.
  • Make all necessary returns with RF guns to return unused bulk and components to the proper warehouse lanes.
  • Complete all required paperwork and basic computer transactions as needed.
  • Ensure lines and hoppers are stocked, and all components are available.
  • Safely and efficiently operate all bulk packaging line equipment (bottle unscrambler, filler, metal detector, desiccant/cotton machine, capper, induction sealer, labeler, bundler, tape sealers, and end of line automation).
  • Assemble cartons, apply labels to cartons and shippers, and verify work orders.
  • Pack finished products, inspecting lot numbers, labels, caps, neck bands, and leakers.
  • Assist with rework and adjust throughout the packaging line.
  • Weigh bulk product skids and attach skid tags to completed skids.
  • Transport skids to finished goods or carton area. Also deliver completed product skids to the loading dock or warehouse rack locations.
  • Assist with setup, changeover, and adjustments for all equipment.
  • Fix minor equipment issues on the line.
  • Clean tooling or machinery after each run (hoses, brushes, vibrators, pans, etc.).
  • Sweep, mop, and take out trash.
  • Maintain a clean work area; dispose of trash and cardboard appropriately.
  • Ensure hoppers are emptied/covered at the end of the shift (especially soft gel bulk).
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe working environment always.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all equipment logs, cleaning logs, and cGMP documentation.
  • Understand and adhere to all cGMP and FDA regulations.
  • Identify and report quality issues to supervisor or quality department.
  • Understand and follow all company policies, SOPs, and safety regulations.
  • Verify QA and Skid AQL samples.
  • Safely and proficiently operate material handling powered equipment.
  • Immediately report any safety concerns, accidents, or injuries to a supervisor.
  • Assist with training new employees when necessary.
  • Crosstrain and assist in other areas as needed to support business operations.
  • Work efficiently to drive process reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Complete rework before finishing an order and starting changeover.
  • Ensure the first-run components are correct and sign/place bulk lot stickers in the work order.
  • Lead will coordinate with the Material Handler on which Code and Lot tray stacks to supply to inspection workstations.
  • Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, of others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
  • Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
  • Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
  • Other duties as assigned.
