About The Position

The Material Handler loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site ensuring that the production department is stocked with the proper material needed and that the finished goods are stored appropriately in the warehouse. Also, needs to keep housekeeping at an exceptional level for plant standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; or up to six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and comprehend Work instruction set-up and BOM (Bill of Material).
All abilities necessary to drive a forklift for full shifts plus scheduled overtime, including but not limited to: Quickly and repeatedly adjusting the controls of a forklift and other PIV equipment used.
Must be able to quickly recognize and respond as needed to signals while driving forklift, e.g. people walking around nearby, or different sounds & lights from the forklift.
The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) to ensure part/material quality meets customer requirements.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
Need vision and hearing abilities necessary for driving.
The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Previous material handler experience working in a manufacturing environment is desired.
Certified forklift training (sit down and stand-up).

Responsibilities

Loads and unloads materials onto pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand.
Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
Removes old labels to ensure totes are clean prior to moving to the cell.
Stacks or assembles material into bundles and bands bundles together.
Lift heavy objects by hand or with power hoist.
Clean work area, machines and equipment to assist machine operators.
Maintain a clean and organize manufacturing and warehouse area.
Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Ensures that all packaging is at the cell at all times throughout their shift (boxes, pallets, material, etc.)
Labels materials (i.e. buckets, boxes, partial gaylords and other items) used to handle material from one point to another.
Assist with stacking of totes / boxes when excessive weight and/or height are involved.
Ensure finished goods are labeled, weighted, and initialed.
Remove scrap from press and take to designated area per the resin number.
Remove and empty press trash as needed.
Maintains adherence to company policies, safety/ergonomic standards, and good housekeeping practices.
