About The Position

The Entry Material Handler role is responsible for operating a forklift to collect, stack, and deliver a wide variety of materials within the production plant to support assigned team. This role requires adherence to all safety procedures, proper identification and disposal of scrap materials, and operation of material handling equipment such as radios, scanners, trash compactors, and cardboard bailers. The position also involves maintaining a clean and orderly work area, ensuring aisles are clear and parts are stocked in designated locations. Daily checklists and visual inspections are part of the routine, as is keeping supplies stocked for the team's daily needs and responding to team requests promptly. Understanding and utilizing JDE programming for functions like sending and tracking Kanban cards, and using departmental communication programs for supply needs are essential. Requirements

  • High School/GED or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year of experience in material handling or operating a forklift
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to frequently lift or move objects up to 60 lbs.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize internal customer needs
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot
  • Knowledge of basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • Ability to understand manufacturing processes such as Kanban, JDE, BOM viewer, method sheets, etc.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug screen, background check screen, and motor vehicle screen (if applicable)
  • Forklift Certification Required
  • Crane license required for Punch Cell roles

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates consistency in practicing all safety procedures.
  • Identifies material types and practice proper disposal of scrap.
  • Operates equipment: radios, scanners, trash compacter, and cardboard bailer.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly area ensuring that aisle ways are clear, part racks are organized, parts are stocked in posted locations.
  • Fills out daily check list and completes visual inspections.
  • Keeps supplies adequately stocked for team’s daily needs.
  • Responds to team request in timely manner.
  • Understands how to correctly use JDE programing functions (i.e. sending Kanban cards, tracking Kanban card status and history).
  • Utilizes all programs for communication of supply needs in department.
  • Models Team Member Expected Behaviors and Henny Penny core values.
  • Consistently models the Company values and expected behaviors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
