About The Position
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout the facility, including raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods, while maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting production operations. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining smooth facility operations and ensuring materials are available when needed. This role will be a Night Shift position.
Requirements
- Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain forklift certification)
- Basic computer literacy
- Ability to read and understand production schedules
- Mathematical skills for inventory counting
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems
- Understanding of safety protocols
- Ability to read and follow written instructions
- Basic problem-solving skills
- Team-oriented mindset
- Time management abilities
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must pass pre-employment assessment
- Drug screening required
- Background check required
Nice To Haves
- High School diploma or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing or warehousing environment is a plus
Responsibilities
- Operate various types of material handling equipment, primarily forklifts (stand-up and sit-down), safely and efficiently
- Perform daily safety inspections of lift equipment and complete required documentation
- Load and unload trucks according to shipping and receiving schedules
- Store and retrieve pallets within the plant, documenting inventory locations using handheld electronic devices
- Stage materials at equipment locations according to production schedules
- Move and manage Work-in-Process (WIP) pallets between machine locations and rack storage
- Maintain organized storage areas and implement proper rack numbering systems
- Perform inventory cycle counts and maintain accurate records
- Complete all required safety documentation, checklists, and logs
- Maintain cleanliness standards through 5S practices, including removal of empty pallets and waste management
- Work in a safe manner.
- Participate actively in Printpack’s Continuous Improvement Program
- Other duties as assigned
Benefits
- An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only (qualifying hours vary by location).
