The Material Handler plays a vital role in producing reliable products and supplies through effective operations within an empowered team. This role involves performing various warehouse functions in a regulated environment, including operating powered industrial vehicles, automated equipment, and handling shipping, receiving, packing, sorting, and conveying of materials for manufacturing and customers. A Material Handler supports production by ensuring orderly distribution and fulfilling material requests while adhering to quality standards and objectives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience, preferably in a GMP environment.
  • 1 year of experience operating power industrial vehicles.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English.
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Ability to be flexible and agile in a fast-paced, constantly changing, and high-volume environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to use PC-based applications and general data entry skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Ability to have prompt, regular and reliable worksite attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with ERP systems; SAP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the Right to Operate by ensuring all processes are performed safely and healthily, and by addressing and escalating any potentially unsafe hazards.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of procedures related to the receipt, quarantine, storage, and disbursement of materials, complying with FDA, OSHA, FAA, QSR, ISO, Good Manufacturing Practices, manufacturing exception events (MEEs), and Roche policies.
  • Participate in department initiatives to prepare for internal/external audits and inspections (OSHA, FAA, FDA, etc.).
  • Report safety hazards, incidents, and near misses in a timely manner.
  • Complete all assigned training, maintaining 95% or above compliance.
  • Perform daily assigned standard work according to governing processes (GSP’s, OPs, QPs, or SOPs).
  • Ensure materials are distributed on time and accurately per the production schedule.
  • Conduct inventory counting and adhere to inventory control processes.
  • Provide support to non-operations stakeholders with their good receipts, allocation, movements, and shipments.
  • Learn and operate automated systems/equipment, including setup, operation, cleaning, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Attend daily Tier meetings.
  • Operate powered industrial vehicles safely and compliantly.
  • Handle or manage hazardous materials.
  • Organize and maintain logistics areas according to 6S principles.
  • Identify gaps and participate in process improvements and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles and tools.
  • Proactively collaborate with peers in other shifts/functions to achieve daily targets.
  • Support leaders in maintaining and cultivating the organization's culture.
  • Collaborate with the team and leaders to achieve departmental goals.
  • Communicate with manufacturing and associated organizations outside the department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
