The Material Handler position is crucial for ensuring efficient production and storage by moving products and materials throughout the work areas. This role requires safely performing responsibilities, maintaining high productivity and quality, providing excellent internal and external customer service, and adhering to all company policies and procedures. The Material Handler is also expected to identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and streamline existing operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma / GED equivalent
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing expectations
  • Basic computer literacy skills
  • Limited working proficiency in English
  • Basic reading and math ability
  • Visual and hearing acuity
  • Ability to utilize hand tools, equipment, and materials as intended by manufacturer
  • Ability to prioritize tasks for production efficiency and quality
  • Availability of working overtime and different shifts as needed
  • Ability to work in a team setting and collaborate with peers
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs

  • Experience with material handler preferred

Responsibilities

  • Move materials, parts, and products to and from warehouse and production locations according to display board and verbal instruction; operate pallet jacks and other equipment to move items with care to lift and balance loads properly
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by checking identification, scanning to track material movement, and reporting shortages and damaged materials to appropriate leadership
  • Maintain neat and orderly work environment by consolidating sets of paper and stacking/sleeving skids
  • Support production efficiency by supplying materials, removing completed work, and removing waste from production areas; maintain aisles and storage areas for ease of movement.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues; take corrective action, such as making minor repairs or replacing parts, or escalate concerns appropriately as defined by the supervisor
  • Assists in training new operators by demonstrating tasks and providing guidance on processes and procedures
  • Detect and report faulty equipment, defective material, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision, follow up with re-pairing equipment/areas as directed by maintenance or leadership
  • Observe all prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition
  • Adhere to company and departmental policies and rules as defined by the employee handbook or management
  • Perform other duties as assigned and work from written and verbal instruction
