About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for performing an array of duties such as loading, unloading and transporting materials to and from jobsites. This is considered to be a safety sensitive position. The Material Handler will assist electricians during the installation of new electrical systems or repair and maintain electrical systems. They may be required to obtain equipment certification to operate material handling equipment. They may be submitted as an approved Bergelectric driver to receive and deliver materials. They must be in compliance with state and local codes and interact with clients, vendors, and Bergelectric employees in a professional manner. Using a variety of hand and power tools, the Material Handler will support electricians in the productive and safe installation of electrical and low voltage material. Duties include cleanup activity, gathering and transporting materials and tools to electricians on the construction project.

Requirements

  • Must make use of feet, legs, hands and arms to climb and/or balance on scaffolding or ladders.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl, sometimes in cramped and awkward positions.
  • Must have use of arms and fingers to reach and handle material, tools and other equipment.
  • Must be able to work off of ladders, man lifts, or reach booms, or other equipment previously certified to operate.
  • Must be able to see and hear or have corrected vision and hearing.
  • Must be able to distinguish color coded wires.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, organize, and safely deliver material to the workforce.
  • Clean and dispose of trash as directed by supervisors.
