About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining the stockyard and raw material racks, ensuring CNC operators have the necessary raw material for daily production. The role involves organizing materials, determining material needs from programs, and using a forklift to deliver materials to CNC machines. The Material Handler also performs daily forklift inspections, optimizes material usage to minimize waste, and assists CNC operators with loading/unloading and scrap disposal. Additionally, this role requires monitoring and emptying scrap bins, reporting safety issues, and communicating any product shortages or problems to management. The position also supports ASAP orders by delivering parts promptly. Cross-training in other departments such as Sanding, Polishing, Packing, Assembly, Finisher Router, and CNC Operator may be required.

Requirements

  • Regularly required to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Work 10-hour days with most of the time being on your feet.
  • Work overtime, whether planned or unplanned.
  • Able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperatures reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit at times.
  • Able to work under time constraints and deadlines.
  • Able to work in a dusty environment.
  • Able to read measurements in inches.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and organizes stockyard and raw material racks.
  • Reviews programs to determine what raw materials are needed for the routers and saws.
  • Uses forklift to obtain raw materials from the stockyard and deliver to the CNC machines.
  • Inspects oil, water, brakes, lights, and tires on the forklift to ensure the equipment is functioning properly.
  • Determines the most efficient use of raw materials to minimize waste.
  • Assists CNC operators with machine loading/unloading and scrap disposal.
  • Monitors scrap bins and removes them when necessary.
  • Notifies group leader, supervisor, or any other management associate of any safety issues.
  • Informs appropriate department, group leader or management associate of any product shortages, defects, delays, or any other problem affecting shipments to customers.
  • Helps respond to ASAP orders by delivering parts for routers immediately or as soon as current cuts are complete.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
  • Cross-trains in other positions as required by management.
