About The Position

Under general supervision, the Material Handler fulfills several different material handler roles to help move and load our products safely and on time, while supporting operations as needed. Position placement is determined by the needs of the business. These roles include but are not limited to: Exit Attendant, Pack Line, Forklift: Prepare and package finished coils in a safe manner to a designated location which includes operating exit recoiler controls, packaging equipment or driving a forklift. Entry Attendant: Assists Entry Operator as needed and directed. Crane Operator: Pulling raw coils for the paint line entry end, unwrapping and inspecting raw coils and unloading/loading trucks from both A and B bay crane. These tasks require the use of an overhead crane. Shipping & Receiving: Assists with all tasks involved in shipping and/or receiving of raw materials to be used in production Operations Support: Assists Operators on the paint line as needed and directed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Time Management – prioritizing work to meet internal and/or external customer demands
  • Good communication skills
  • Mobile equipment operations skills
  • Ability to read and comprehend written materials such as schedules, SOPs, work rules, etc.
  • Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test as a condition of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Metals, coating, roll forming or industrial manufacturing experience
  • One year of manufacturing experience
  • Forklift experience
  • Crane operating experience

Responsibilities

  • Fulfilling duties including operating exit recoiler controls, operating the packaging line, driving a forklift and crane operation.
  • Verifying that finished goods are properly identified with an identification ticket prior to moving them to a storage area.
  • Preparing materials to be used for packaging and shipping of finished coils.
  • Acting as a flexible plant support resource, giving assistance in various areas of the plant, as directed, as daily priorities shift.
  • Quarantining non-conforming material and notifying Quality Control when non-conforming conditions exist.
  • Communicating daily with internal personnel from Maintenance, Operations and Quality Control to help resolve any problems and help achieve company goals.
  • Transporting a bore horizontal coil from the coil cart to the proper location including using a coil mat/chock.
  • Providing back-up to operators on the line(s) as needed and directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
