About The Position

Responsible for performing various shipping, receiving, and warehouse tasks. This includes checking the work area for safety, cleanliness, and mechanical problems at the start of each shift. The role involves the safe and efficient operation and daily maintenance of a forklift, as well as operating other equipment such as pallet jacks, shrink wrap machines, hoggers, balers, and banders. The Material Handler will work closely with team members to ensure daily jobs are completed efficiently, load and unload trailers safely and in a timely manner, and complete inspections of trailers during preload and unload. Responsibilities also include keeping machine centers stocked with product, reviewing customer pick lists, pulling correct items, and properly loading finished products. The role involves verifying and loading outbound customer orders, completing warehouse duties such as loading, unloading, and maintaining inventory rotation, and conducting physical inventory counts. Additionally, the Material Handler will assist as a backup to the Raw Material Handler by unloading incoming material and verifying it against the Bill of Lading (BOL), performing end-of-shift cleanup, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment throughout the shift. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping, is required.

Requirements

  • Must possess or successfully obtain a PIT certification.
  • Stable work history.
  • Must have basic computer skills, along with knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with others.
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret documents.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to maintain quality and safety.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.
  • Ability to work overtime and some Saturdays when scheduled.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or state registered GED preferred.
  • 1 year of forklift experience (preferred).
  • At least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified (preferred).
  • Experience with loading/unloading, and warehouse duties (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Check area for safety, cleanliness, and mechanical problems at shift start.
  • Safely and efficiently operate a forklift (must be qualified).
  • Maintain forklift daily, including completing and documenting daily inspections, and report needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Operate forklift and other equipment such as pallet jacks, shrink wrap machine, hogger, baler, and bander on a daily basis.
  • Work closely with team members to get daily jobs completed efficiently.
  • Load and unload trailers safely and in a timely manner.
  • Complete inspections of trailers during preload and unload.
  • Keep machine centers stocked with product by locating, staging, and loading machine centers in a timely manner.
  • Review customer pick lists, pull correct items, and load finished products properly.
  • Verify and load outbound customer orders at plant and warehouse.
  • Complete warehouse duties including loading, unloading, and maintaining rotation of inventory.
  • Conduct physical inventory counts at warehouse.
  • Act as a backup to Raw Material Handler by unloading incoming material and verifying against BOL.
  • Perform end of shift cleanup.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment throughout shift.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
