About The Position

Reporting directly to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Material Handler is responsible for verifying and maintaining records on incoming and outgoing shipments. Duties include assembling, loading, and shipping merchandise or material; and receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise or material. The role also involves supporting EHS&S management systems, maintaining a safe and secure workplace, working with outside carriers, and performing quality checks. This position requires the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments and identify and verify item, lot, and quantity against shipping documents. The Material Handler must also be able to flow from one task to another freely without direct supervision and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or earned within a designated period following date of hire.
  • Basic computer experience in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Minimum of two years working in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to stand for entirety of the 8–12-hour shift.
  • Basic computer skills such as email, Microsoft office, etc.
  • Ability to flow from one task to another freely without contact supervision or direction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using an ERP system preferred.
  • Experience operating a standup forklift preferred.
  • Experience utilizing an RF Scanner preferred.
  • Shipping and Receiving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Verifying and maintaining records on incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Assembling, loading, and shipping merchandise or material.
  • Receiving, unpacking, verifying, and recording incoming merchandise or material.
  • Examining shipment contents and comparing with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
  • Recording shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
  • Preparing documents, such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders, to route materials.
  • Packing, sealing, or labeling to prepare materials for shipping.
  • Delivering or routing materials to departments using forklifts and/or pallet jacks.
  • Requisitioning and storing shipping materials and supplies to maintain inventory of stock.
  • Loading/unloading trucks in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Supporting efforts to implement and maintain the EHS&S management system.
  • Conforming with the EHS&S Policy and the Cardinal Rules.
  • Maintaining a safe and secure workplace and meeting environmental site requirements.
  • Reporting accidents and incidents to a supervisor or the EHS&S department.
  • Participating in required EHS&S training.
  • Working with outside carriers for loading and unloading of product, finished and raw.
  • Maintaining traceability of all products, finished and raw, to help the Operations team maintain efficiency.
  • Performing Quality checks to inspect for integrity of materials.
  • Working cross-functionally with other departments such as Quality, Operations, Planning, etc.
  • Identifying item, lot, and quantity and verifying they all match BOL/manifest.
  • Inspecting and identifying any quality defects on incoming or outbound material.
  • Performing basic computer skills such as email, Microsoft office, etc.
  • Ability to flow from one task to another freely without contact supervision or direction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Following set guidelines for GMP, quality and food safety requirements.
  • Maintaining training on applicable procedures in quality, GMP, and food safety.
