Shipping/ Receiving Material Handler
About The Position
Insteel Wire Products is seeking a Material Handler to join their team. This role involves moving materials, including raw materials and finished product, in tight, high-traffic areas using a forklift. The Material Handler will work daily to ensure all tasks are completed with a focus on safety, aiming for zero harm to employees, property, the environment, and the community. The position requires knowledge of safety equipment and procedures, maintaining a clean work area, operating equipment safely in close quarters, staging raw materials at machines, and moving, weighing, and staging finished product. The role also involves visually checking the quality of finished product and potentially training others.
Requirements
- Knowledge of safety equipment and safety procedures for day-to-day operations.
- Possess or be able to obtain a forklift operator certification.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to complete simple forms and understand simple written instructions
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.
- A minimum of two (2) years' forklift experience required.
- Must possess a high attention to detail
- Be able to work closely with production employees

Responsibilities
- Maintain good housekeeping/neat work area while loading and unloading material.
- Safely operate equipment in a close-quarter environment with various materials, trucks, and employees present.
- Stage raw material (steel rod) at appropriate machines.
- Move, weigh, and stage finished product.
- Visually check quality of finished product
- Train others as needed
