About The Position

Responsible for safe, damage-free, and accurate handling of materials within the plant. This role involves supplying and moving materials, ensuring adherence to SA’s Quality goals and objectives, and performing assigned duties within the Environmental Management System (EMS). The Material Handler ensures production lines are stocked with necessary materials, manages inventory through FIFO rotation, and handles shipping and receiving documentation.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Within two weeks on the job, complete fork truck training and specialized training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily safety checks for Fork Truck/Tugger and complete daily check sheets.
  • Lift one tote/box at a time during material movement.
  • Report any damage to Racks, Machines, Fork Truck, and Material.
  • Maintain and provide a safe working environment.
  • Perform daily 5S in assigned areas.
  • Ensure PLEX/container movement tags are placed on each product.
  • Ensure all production lines are full of material (raw forgings and plated housings) prior to the beginning of the next shift.
  • Fill all lines with proper components/empties and manage the movement of finished goods and PH product.
  • Assign PLEX numbers to all incoming material and place material in the proper location.
  • Rotate all materials in accordance with first-in, first-out (FIFO).
  • Read manifests, pull orders, ship orders, and check paperwork for correctness, ensuring quantities and product are accurate.
  • Break down forging boxes, empty cardboard bins, and dispose of all trash.
  • Move finished goods to their proper location.
  • Move inspected material to the proper location.
  • Move machined housings to the shipping area for shipment to outside plating suppliers.
  • Supply empty shipping containers to their proper location.
  • Support manufacturing in making bales of cardboard when the baler is full.
  • Clean and organize return empty pallets, lids, and totes to the designated location.
  • Remove old Kanban.
  • Load/unload trucks, ensuring all incoming material is placed in the proper location.
  • Submit suggestions for improvements.
  • Notify team leader or above immediately of quality and safety concerns.
  • Stop process if quality level is not meeting specifications.
