About The Position

ITW Shakeproof serves major automotive OEM's and their suppliers with metal, cold-headed fasteners. We are looking for a Material Handler to join our team! The material handler position is responsible for moving material as needed to proper areas.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1-3 years' experience working in a plant/warehouse setting, experience in material handling preferred.
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production and operating documents, maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Basic math skill including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to operate computer equipment and familiarize with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Stand up and Sit Down forklift experience required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Understanding and compliance with safety rules and regulations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with QAD ERP system is helpful

Responsibilities

  • Move raw material (wire and components) to machines as needed.
  • Move and weigh product from machines to staging and shipping areas.
  • Count weights and record number of units of materials moved or handled on interplant form and key-in pan tickets for production reporting.
  • Move raw material to designated location in facility and convey materials from storage or work sites to designated areas.
  • Organize empty tubs and wire carriers into cargo boxes.
  • Read product processing forms or follow oral instructions to determine materials to be moved.
  • Operate industrial fork truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
  • Load and unload materials on or from pallets, trays, racks or carrier.
  • Load materials into vehicles and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials and make ID tags from information provided by suppliers.
  • Prepare purchase blanks for shipments by removing from container and dumping parts into bins and attaching proper documents.
  • Assign lot numbers to raw material and maintain required records.
  • Sign for packages and bring to proper locations using scanner and alphanumeric codes.
  • Occasionally perform light maintenance to help maintenance department.
  • Remove scrap and record weight.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance and document findings.
