About The Position

Responsible for the management of the Buffer area to include: Flow of materials held in buffer and overcrowding. Transfer of materials in totes to trucks and staging in buffer area. Release of completed orders to take-away conveyor. Problem resolution. Recording of book order status transactions and use of Book Order Control System to obtain and update book order information. Responsible to enter information into computer system as necessary for order fulfillment in SCS and Oracle. Works with co-workers to resolve issues related to overages, shortages and mis-routings. Performs investigations based on Oracle and SCS (conveyor) information. May be the point of contact for special handling requests. Responsible to perform other duties of equal or lesser classification irrespective of required change in department, hours (including mandatory overtime) or work conditions as directed by supervisor. Responsible for regular, dependable attendance and punctuality. Maintain safe, clean and organized work areas, emptying trash cans and barrels and sweeping of floors, as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience as a Material Handler III or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced proficiency level of competence within production standards of efficiency and skill of Material Handler III.
  • PC Proficiency and familiarity with Book Order Control System.
  • Ability to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Flexibility to make appropriate decisions regarding safety and responsiveness to changing work environments.
  • Ability to work/communicate effectively and respectfully with co-workers.
  • Adherence to Brodart rules, policies and standards of conduct.
  • Ability to stand/walk for 8-hour shifts.
  • Ability to frequently bend.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs frequently and up to 70 lbs occasionally.
  • Ability to push book trucks weighing several hundred pounds.
  • Ability to float throughout the work area and move from zone to zone as workload requires.

Responsibilities
