About The Position

The Material Handler II performs routine hazardous and non-hazardous waste tasks involving the movement of solids and liquids, with little supervision. Work may include manual labor in cleaning and decontamination operations, vacuum projects, and handling, packing, repacking, loading, and unloading containers for on-site processing or transportation to appropriate facilities.

Requirements

Ability to communicate through reading and writing.
Training in the use of material-handling equipment.
Forklift certification.
Yard truck certification.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED.
10 to 12 months of prior related work experience in the hazardous waste or chemical industry, with proficiency in handling forklifts and a variety of tools.
40-hour HAZWOPER training.

Responsibilities

Load and unload containers of various sizes, including totes, drums, tankers, and trailers.
Construct boxes and fiber containers; stack, label, and load containers.
Use tools such as impact wrenches, shovels, and jackhammers.
Transport hazardous waste materials from storage facilities within the facility as directed.
Decontaminate and dispose of empty drums and containers according to RCRA and disposal guidelines.
Complete paperwork needed to process materials, including documentation for transporting materials to and from various locations.
Perform general housekeeping duties.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Inspect material-handling equipment as directed.
Load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste at designated sites using equipment for which the employee is appropriately trained.
Perform other duties as assigned.
