About The Position

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Warehouse Forklift Operator / Material Handler I is responsible for safely moving, loading, unloading, and staging materials throughout the plant and warehouse using powered industrial equipment. This role supports production, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and blending room operations while ensuring materials are accurately tracked and delivered to the correct locations. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, forklift experience, excellent attendance, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience as a Material Handler or similar warehouse position.
  • Current forklift certification or extensive forklift operating experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution environment.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication with team members and leadership.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, correspondence, and work orders.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Proficiency with data entry and handheld scanner systems.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced team environment and maintain a strong attendance record.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and work standards.
  • Support and promote a safe work environment for all employees.
  • Complete daily inspections of material handling equipment before use.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport materials and finished goods.
  • Load, unload, stage, and organize raw materials, finished goods, pallets, and corrugated materials.
  • Load and unload trucks, including live-load production shipments.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions regarding material movement and storage.
  • Move materials between storage, warehouse, production, and shipping areas.
  • Use scanner guns to accurately track, transfer, and record inventory movements.
  • Open containers and transfer materials from raw material inventory to work-in-process locations.
  • Label and identify materials, containers, gaylords, pallets, and finished goods.
  • Verify incoming shipments against bills of lading, invoices, purchase orders, and shipping records.
  • Operate balers to process reusable corrugated materials.
  • Maintain warehouse organization and housekeeping standards.
  • Complete required forms, reports, and production documentation.
  • Support training efforts for new and backup Material Handlers.
  • Segregate scrap materials and dispose of waste properly.
  • Assist production departments as needed to support operational goals.
  • Weigh and track regrind materials and complete required documentation.
  • Transport regrind materials and empty gaylords throughout the facility.
  • Organize, label, and stage weighed materials within the warehouse.
  • Move webbing and sheet materials to grinding equipment.
  • Monitor silo levels and blending systems.
  • Report blending alarms to Process or Maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the blending room and surrounding equipment areas.
  • Load additives and concentrates into designated silos and hoppers.
  • Empty collection socks and perform routine housekeeping duties.
  • Work with Customer Service to process shipment orders.
  • Prepare bills of lading and shipping documentation.
  • Load outbound shipments and complete shipping paperwork.
  • Help ensure shipping appointments and customer delivery schedules are met.
  • Accurately scan and track finished goods throughout the shipping process.
