About The Position

iRhythm is seeking a responsible and reliable Material Handler at its Orange County Manufacturing facility. This role involves preparing department records and reports, recommending improvements for productivity and quality, and assisting other employees with various tasks including Quality Inspection, assembly, filing, and general facility duties. The position also includes significant inventory management responsibilities such as material handling, kitting, physical inventory, and cycle counts. The Material Handler will consult with management on department priorities and suggest improvements. Additionally, the role encompasses both receiving and shipping activities, ensuring accurate documentation, proper handling of materials, and compliance with regulations.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school education or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English documents such as work instructions, test procedures, and department procedures.
  • Read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and present information (verbal, written or electronically) both one on one or in a team environment.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions presented in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized and non-standardized situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, supporting the objectives and goals of the organization.

  • Flexibility in work assignments.
  • Able to drive a fork lift and handle a pallet jack, if required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 to 4 years experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience working in a medical device manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience working in a ISO registered facility strongly preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of FDA and ISO requirements, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares required department records and reports.
  • Recommends measures to improve productivity, equipment performance, and quality of service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency.
  • Provides assistance to other employees as required, which may include assistance in Quality Inspection, assembly, filing, and facility misc.
  • Inventory management to include material handling, kitting, physical inventory and cycle count.
  • Consults with management to clarify department priorities, identify problems, and suggest changes for improvement.
  • Unloads and unpacks incoming shipments.
  • Records receipt of incoming materials and equipment.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records and reports shortages and discrepancies, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Compares identifying information and counts against bills of lading.
  • Visually looks for damaged goods, notes any discrepancies on receiving documentation prior to signing for delivery.
  • Notifies Quality of all damaged shipments and Purchasing for any discrepancies in the shipment.
  • Identifies packages with part number, quantity, receipt date, and P.O. number.
  • Maintains an organized work area.
  • Segregates units requiring special handling and routinely follows-up on exceptions to the normal receiving process to ensure a timely resolution to issues.
  • Transports units to the appropriate areas if required.
  • Complies with all applicable government regulations and follows related area procedures.
  • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
  • Resolves discrepancies between physical product and paperwork as needed.
  • Maintains inventory for the packaging area.
  • Verifies the accuracy of the data and initiates corrections when needed.
  • Coordinates special shipping and handling requests with the shipping department and other employees.
  • Affixes shipping labels, identifying information, and shipping instructions onto packed cartons or containers, as required.
  • Recommends method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates, when appropriate.
  • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
  • Verifies accuracy of shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records.
  • Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
  • Prepares bills of lading and maintains documentation of goods shipped.
