About The Position

Owens Corning is seeking dynamic individuals to join their local team in North Platte. This role is responsible for adequately and efficiently transporting product and raw materials within the manufacturing facility in a safe manner. The position involves reading shipping schedules, staging products for shipping, performing pre-shift forklift inspections, and ensuring safe operation of the forklift. The Material Handler will also pull production wrap lines, retrieve items from the warehouse based on work orders, and maintain a safe and clean work environment. Other related duties as assigned may also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior forklift operation in manufacturing environment
  • 2-3 Years in the field or related area
  • Must demonstrate solid teamwork abilities
  • Communicate, in English, in a clear and effective manner
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Work independently, as well as part of a team, and have shift flexibility
  • Required to mount and dismount forklift multiple times per day
  • Forklift knowledge and safety procedures
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to organize and maintain detailed records
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and have ability to multi-task
  • Stand for 10 - 12 hours straight
  • Climb and descend stairs/ladder as needed for the role
  • Do repetitive movements (hand, arm, leg; bending and twisting at the waist; bending at the knee; squatting; lift, push and pull 50-pounds)
  • Withstand exposure to temperature extremes; sounds or noise levels that may be uncomfortable

Responsibilities

  • Reads/interprets shipping schedules, stages doors, sorts by length, width, customer, core type to create correct stacks for shipping
  • Stages for shipping once wrapped
  • Conduct pre-shift inspection of the forklift to ensure safety and operational compliance
  • Provide safe operation of forklift throughout the facility. Abide by all safety rules and regulations required with forklift operation
  • Pull all production wrap lines as required
  • Pay attention to detail when pulling items from Warehouse based on work order
  • Replace pallets/runners as necessary to maintain a safe working environment
  • Must understand all shipping documents in order to understand the space required for product
  • Will also perform other related duties as assigned, which may not be specifically listed in the job description
