About The Position

BlueLinx is hiring a Material Handler / Forklift Operator for its distribution center. The role supports the safe and efficient handling, storage, and shipment of building materials. The fixed wage is $22.11 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage; actual compensation depends on experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and other job-related considerations. The schedule is Monday through Friday. Requirements

• One year of recent forklift or warehouse experience.
• Ability to safely and proficiently use a forklift to transport products and load or unload trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure.
• Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety material, and similar documents.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve material, including piece-pick and/or bulk material.
• Prepare paperwork required for product distribution and shipping.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the working and assigned area.
• Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
