About The Position

SpaceX is seeking a Material Flow Technician to set up physical processes and system configurations that support new production cells, materials layouts, and continuous improvement. The role applies material-flow principles to lineside presentation, dense storage solutions, carts and racks for material movement, and packaging standards. The technician implements material-flow engineering designs, establishes small-part flow and presentation, supports new process and cell projects, and provides operational support to Materials Management as needed. The position also requires maintaining inventory accuracy, relevant equipment certifications, process-improvement tools, and safe working practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting process or operational improvement in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to work first-shift hours (6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), overtime, and weekends as needed; schedule varies with site operational needs and requires flexibility.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, including 8 or more hours.
  • Ability to perform repetitive operations, including standing, sitting, pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds unassisted, overhead reaching, walking, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted, climbing ladders or stairs, kneeling/crouching, and upper-body twisting, at the durations specified in the posting.
  • Ability to work in temperatures over 80 degrees for up to 30 minutes per day.

  • Ability to read and understand CAD drawings.
  • SQL and Tableau experience.
  • Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • APICS or other supply-chain certification.
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Set up material-flow processes and part presentation for new build cells according to material-flow standards and engineering designs, including physical infrastructure and system configuration.
  • Implement material-flow designs, including layout implementation, racking and floor-location setup, part labeling, building material-movement carts, and slotting small parts into gravity-flow racking.
  • Own small-part flow setup, including locations, space-efficient packaging, and min/max levels consistent with supply-chain strategy.
  • Provide input on packaging and part-flow designs to maximize part density and efficient handling while maintaining part quality.
  • Identify process-improvement opportunities within materials management.
  • Support project management for new process and cell implementation by providing timeline input, helping create project bills of materials, and managing storage and delivery of project materials.
  • Provide surge support to Materials Management operations as needed, including receiving, put away, picking, shipping, and lineside Production Coordinator support.
  • Maintain production-material inventory accuracy through timely transactions and cycle counting to identify gaps.
  • Maintain tools needed for process improvement, including mobile equipment, hand tools, and miscellaneous supplies.
  • Ensure complete disposition of obsolete or orphaned material resulting from new process or cell implementation.
  • Maintain current certifications for relevant Materials Management equipment and processes.
  • Provide leaders and engineers with input on potential safety hazards when setting up new processes and locations.
