About The Position

This position involves operating a dynamic balancing machine to balance various sizes of pump rotor units and impellers on arbors. The role requires the ability to follow instructions, set up equipment, make precise adjustments, and inspect units for defects. The employee will be responsible for maintaining a clean work area and performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Plan complex work detail to operate dynamic balancing machine to balance various sizes of pump rotor units and impellers on arbors to meet specifications.
Perform semi-routine job involving the set-up and operation of balancing equipment where judgment is required.
Position wheel in balancing machine, start machine, operate controls and observe gauges, make adjustments where close tolerances are required.
Apply close mental or visual application when observing gauges, determining required weight and attach to impeller, to true-up wheel to meet requirements.
Light physical exertion, operate electric hoist and manually use a variety of small hand tools.

Responsibilities

Operate dynamic balancing machine to balance pump rotor units and impellers.
Receive work assignments from Foreman.
Move material to and from the balancing area.
Mount impellers on arbors and set up for balancing.
Grind and fit feather keys to impellers.
Operate machine controls, observe gauges, and record results to determine off-balance locations.
Remove excess metal to balance units to required tolerances using a drill or portable grinder.
Visually inspect units for defects and report any unusual or defective units to the Foreman.
Clean impellers and equipment.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
