About The Position

The Material Coordinator is responsible for performing all assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner with an emphasis on quality. This role involves following company and departmental procedures, maintaining regular attendance and punctuality, and adhering to all safety rules. The Material Coordinator will keep their work area and vehicles clean and orderly, reporting any unusual conditions or situations to their Lead Person or Supervisor. This position requires driving company vehicles to pick up and deliver parts and supplies, loading and unloading vehicles, and performing inspections of vehicles and equipment. The Material Coordinator will also be responsible for packing and weighing parts, maintaining vehicle fluid levels, and performing in-shop functions when required. Additionally, the role involves operating powered fork trucks and lifts, electronic scales, performing cycle counts for inventory control, coordinating components for work orders with Production Control using FIFO practices, receiving and distributing parts, filling production work orders, and assisting operators with lifting or moving parts. Experience with sawing, turning, and grinding machinery is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude and shop math competencies
  • Strong ability to follow written and verbal work instructions
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Up to date and valid automobile insurance
  • Clean Driving Record

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties as assigned in a safe and efficient manner with an emphasis on quality.
  • Follow Company and departmental procedures, including regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Follow all safety rules and keep work area and vehicles in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Report any unusual conditions or situations to Lead Person or Supervisor.
  • Drive Company vehicles to and from suppliers to pick up and deliver parts and supplies as assigned.
  • Load and unload vehicles using necessary equipment.
  • Make physical and visual inspections of vehicle to be used (truck, forklift, power pallet lifter, etc.).
  • Make necessary adjustments and fill out required paperwork.
  • Report any unusual conditions during operation of all vehicles and report necessary maintenance to Lead Person or Supervisor.
  • Report any unusual conditions at any outside suppliers to Lead person or Supervisor.
  • Pack and/or weigh parts going out to suppliers.
  • Maintain all vehicle fluid levels.
  • Perform any in shop functions when all required duties are completed as directed by Lead person or Supervisor.
  • Safely operate powered fork trucks and lifts.
  • Operate all electronic scales.
  • Perform cycle counts periodically to maintain control of inventory counts throughout the year.
  • Work with Production Control to coordinate components for work orders that are released for staging, including reporting FCN (traceability) to Production Planning for work order creation using FIFO practice.
  • Receive parts for storage, distribute parts to their proper place on a shelf, at a machine, or staging area; and return overpull material back to stock.
  • Review all paperwork upon completion.
  • Fill production work orders.
  • Work with sawing, turning, and grinding machinery.
  • Assist operators in lifting or moving parts.
