About The Position

The Material Coordinator is responsible for the movement, storage, cleanliness, safety checks, and management of materials within a warehouse or industrial setting. This role provides support by receiving material, creating shop travelers, and delivering products to different production areas. Requirements

  • Ability to communicate – verbal and written.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions with accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry purposes.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Constant standing & walking.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, & reaching.
  • Multi-Tasking skills.
  • Predictable and consistent attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years in industrial machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that material is delivered, ready, and staged for machines.
  • Unload incoming wire rod and place it in designated storage area.
  • Record coil weight and yard location when storing.
  • Tag wire.
  • Handle the removal and segregation of scrap and trash throughout the manufacturing area.
  • Move material from rejection area to yard.
  • Ensure finished product is delivered to the appropriate department.
  • Read work orders/bill of materials to determine product specifications.
  • Responsible for quantity and quality to meet efficiency rates.
  • Obtain all required approvals.
  • Label packages.
  • Use of forklifts, cranes, and hand carts to load/unload machines and to move material to and from machines.
  • Ensure and observe all safety and housekeeping rules and guidelines, including conducting daily safety inspections.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Inspect material during processing to ensure proper quality is maintained.
  • Complete all documentation and turn in the work order to the supervisor.
  • Train new operators.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Complete all assigned training, including monthly health and safety sessions.
  • Read SDS’s to familiarize with chemicals used.
  • Maintain all safety check lists to include eye washes, fire extinguisher, exits and all other Safety requirements.
  • Work closely with the Office Admin.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the plant to include sweeping trash and other misc. duties.
  • Place material on hold, if necessary, stop production when nonconforming wire is found.
  • Work in various temperature environments (including extreme heat).
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Assist production manager and other operators, as necessary.
