About The Position

Performs the physical or administrative tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, distributing and order fulfillment of merchandise, products, materials, parts, supplies and equipment. Checks goods received and for distribution against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of goods and rejects unsatisfactory items. Packages and prepares products and merchandise for final shipment and posts weights and shipping charges. Lifts heavy items and may operate a forklift. Prepares and maintains records of merchandise shipped. Reviews customer orders, examines, stocks and distributes merchandise, products and materials in inventory warehouses, distribution centers or manufacturing lines. The Material Coordinator at Viavi Solutions Inc. is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate flow of materials within our manufacturing and supply chain operations, contributing to timely production and delivery.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a materials, warehousing, or logistics role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) for inventory management.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, store, and issue raw materials, components, and finished goods according to established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts, physical audits, and data entry into the ERP system.
  • Prepare materials for production orders, ensuring availability and proper labeling.
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, and shipping departments to optimize material flow and resolve discrepancies.
  • Identify and report material shortages, damaged goods, or quality issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory management and material handling processes.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Package and prepare finished products for shipment, including creating shipping labels and documentation.
