About The Position

The purpose of this job is to operate, maintain, and continuously improve Material Control within the Atlanta SDC site. This role ensures that business needs are met and materials are available in line with operational requirements. The Material Controller must ensure that material handling processes and procedures are followed while adhering to all EHS regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Basic English reading, comprehension, writing and mathematics skills.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an industrial/warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory control processes or systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and coordinate complex issues.
  • Forklift experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications--both general and technical)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and demands, while providing consistent and accurate feedback to direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Physically handles materials and compares the inbound shipment to the carriers and supplier’s documentation.
  • Identifies materials and assigns the appropriate parts number and location for storage.
  • Ensures that damaged materials are identified and processed for return to vendor(s) and notifies the appropriate departments.
  • Physically handles both loading and unloading of materials and transfer to the assigned storage location.
  • Issue materials to O&M technicians.
  • Notifies procurement and quality of inbound receiving damage or count discrepancies.
  • Handles cycle counts of inventory, identifying shortages and issues. Working with site personnel on correcting and reporting issues.
  • Deal with any stock discrepancies or quality issues efficiently.
  • Assist production personal in obtaining proper parts, while maintaining proper records on parts sent and received for repair.
  • Will maintain consumable inventory and assure a minimal stock is always on hand.
  • Prepares materials and required documentation for outbound shipments, including notification of carriers and tracking of the shipment.
  • Escort vendors/contractors in and out of the facility. (May be required to pick up or deliver materials to customers or suppliers.)
  • Maintain knowledge of products and processes in the day-to-day activities.
  • Participate in improving the efficiency of Cycle Counting to reduce discrepancies.
  • Ability to understand and solve complex problems and the ability to negotiate human relations issues involving direct reports and other employees and vendors.
  • Project a positive attitude towards your workgroup to create a positive work environment.
  • Ensure proper Documentation for all materials.
  • Ensure all workplace programs (safety, tool control, etc.) are adhered to.
  • Maintain knowledge of Material Control processes.
