About The Position

The Controller will partner with the Plant VP or Operations or Plant Manager to contribute to the success of the plant operations. This position will exercise financial leadership to the local team by delivering accurate information and applying business insights to make decisions that will affect the overall success and profitability of the plant. This Controller position will manage and present financial results, forecasts and analyses, and provide leadership to an accounting team to support business processes along with providing support on corporate initiatives. The Controller will also: oversee the completion and submission of reports required by regulatory agencies, coordinate location audits, develop budgets and support corporate risk management and insurance activities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related experience in manufacturing/production industries.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or equivalent work history/experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong cost accounting background.
  • Strong leadership/influencing skills with the ability to work effectively within a complex system, influence others, and drive results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and drive business opportunities forward. Ability to synthesize data into meaningful conclusions and recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • Food manufacturing experience preferred.
  • CMA or CPA preferred.
  • Experience with Infor M3 (ERP), OneStream, and Power BI preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management with timely reviews of organization's financial and operational performance.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of accounting at plant location.
  • Prepare reports and models which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income statement and balance sheet based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Manage and complete the entire month-end close process to include completion of accurate and timely financial statements, general ledger reconciliations and communications with management and parent company accounting team.
  • Direct preparation and reviews of budgets and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Directly supervise employees performing various accounting functions.
  • Lead the activities for creating and maintaining fixed asset records including compliance with company accounting policies and current guidance. Oversee the review of fixed assets additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation calculations, and generation of fixed asset schedules.
  • Work effectively with other departments to gather the necessary information for purposes of financial reporting, to drive continuous improvement and process efficiencies of financial reporting, compliance, and controls.
  • Assist and lead projects and initiatives to optimize the effectiveness of existing business applications, technologies, and systems, and build efficiencies and improvements into current business processes.
  • Advise management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
  • Participate in financial audits of company's accounts and assets.
  • Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
