About The Position

This role involves performing all necessary layouts and preparing parts for a pressure bonding process, working from blueprints, specifications, and drawings. The Material Bonder A will plan operations, perform assembling, fitting, and trimming, and apply bonding agents. They will use various production aids, including jigs, fixtures, and hand tools. A key responsibility is ensuring the correct selection and application of bonding agents, proper assembly, and fitting. The position also requires operating a pressure furnace, controlling heat, pressure, and timing according to specifications, and closely monitoring the process to ensure successful bonds and prevent damage. Final inspection of finished articles is also part of the role, along with the safe operation of equipment.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years metal fitting or forming experience, one (1) year of which must have been in bonding work including the operation of a pressure furnace, or two (2) years Bell Material Bonder B or Material Bonder – I classification experience or one (1) year Bell Material Bonder B experience combined with one (1) year metal fitting or forming experience.
  • Must be a U.S. person within the meaning of ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

Responsibilities

  • Working from blueprints, Bell Process Specifications, drawings or written specifications performs all necessary layouts and prepares parts or articles composed of like or unlike materials for pressure bonding process.
  • Plans operations and performs assembling, fitting, and trimming as required, applies either liquid or solid bonding agents.
  • Uses various production aids, such as jigs, fixtures and hand tools.
  • Checks all work to ensure selection and application of proper bonding agent, correct assembly and fitting, etc., and places articles in a pressure furnace.
  • Controls conditions of heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to the specifications for the materials and the bonding agent being used.
  • Maintains close watch over furnace controls during bonding process to ensure successful bond and prevent damage to articles.
  • Checks articles when finished.
  • Responsible for safe operation of equipment.
