About The Position

Essential to the BBBS mission, the primary function of this position is to ensure that volunteers and children are matched in strong, safe, and sustainable relationships in accordance with BBBS standards and agency practices. This role supports youth and families through enrollment, reassessment, pre-match communication, match introductions, and related program activities. A high level of customer service, sound judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to child safety is expected throughout the process. Because this role regularly serves Spanish-speaking participants and families, the position requires the ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and one of the following: a bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, or a related field; an associate degree or two years of higher education and two years of relevant work experience; or four years of relevant work experience in social work, counseling, social services, child development, or related fields.
  • Experience working with both child and adult populations; assessment, intake, or interview experience preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization, sound judgment, and ability to manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and ensure timely processing.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of client, family, and volunteer information.
  • Professional or internship experience in a nonprofit or social service setting working with volunteers and families is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish to support participant, family, and volunteer engagement in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Create Big and Little matches and facilitate match introductions while accommodating volunteer and family schedules.
  • Conduct volunteer, child, and family reassessments and updates as indicated.
  • Recommend match support and training needs to Match Support team members based on assessment findings.
  • Ensure calls, emails, and other communications receive an engaging, positive, and personalized response that reflects BBBS values and service standards.
  • Conduct assessments and write reports: Prepare detailed, accurate assessments of volunteers, youth, and families. Analyze information to make informed recommendations for program participation, matching, and support. Maintain thorough documentation in agency systems.
  • Effectively move children and volunteers from application through approval and matching.
  • Identify and assess barriers interfering with enrollment or matching and follow the process through to the next point of contact.
  • Obtain and maintain preliminary and ongoing contact information and documentation for children, families, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate required screening and background check steps in accordance with agency practices and applicable law.
  • Escalate to the Senior Program Manager any concerns arising during interviews, reference checks, or screening results that may affect enrollment or matching decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with service delivery staff to ensure smooth transitions among functions and a consistent participant experience.
  • Communicate in both English and Spanish with volunteers, youth, and families, including interviews, follow-up, responses to questions, and coordination of required paperwork.
  • Assist with agency administrative, marketing, fundraising, and event efforts as directed.
  • Attend and assist with agency-sponsored events as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
