About The Position

The First Episode Psychosis (FEP) Recovery Oriented Counselor, also known as a Masters Level Therapist, is a full-time position supporting young people in Delaware County. This role is part of a Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) approach designed to treat individuals who have recently experienced their first episode of psychosis. The FEP Team provides a range of services including low-dose medication management, Cognitive Behavioral Treatment for Psychosis (CBT-P), family education, case management, supported education and employment, and peer support. The program emphasizes a young person's voice and choice in guiding their treatment, aiming to improve their quality of life by fostering hope, empowering them, educating them about psychosis, re-establishing relationships, and supporting their reintegration into the community through education or employment.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Human Service or related field including psychology, counseling or social work

Nice To Haves

  • Experience implementing CBT
  • Experience working with transition aged youth (15-30)
  • Experience working with Schizophrenia Spectrum population
  • Crisis Management Experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct services to individuals, families, and groups through an evidence-based Coordinated Specialty Care program, specifically CBT-P and case management.
  • Administer assessments for intake and outcome measures including: Quality of Life, Cognitive Functioning, Differential Diagnosis, and functional assessments related to community integration.
  • Create, maintain, update and implement treatment plans according to the needs of the young people.
  • Provide psychoeducation to young people and their families related to psychosis in an individual and/or group format.
  • Coordinate care by collaborating with FEP team members and multidisciplinary professionals to provide and facilitate care in accordance with policies and procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the Program Model and of Child and Family Focus.
  • Empower young people to set and achieve recovery goals and increase self-advocacy.
  • Provide program outreach to the community to decrease the duration of untreated psychosis and to stimulate referral sources.
  • Use and implement the 5 core values of Trauma-Informed Care in all work practices - Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration, & Empowerment.
