Master Technician
About The Position
First Bus is seeking a qualified and experienced Master Technician to join the engineering team at its Glasgow Caledonia Depot. The role provides technical support by helping diagnose and resolve vehicle faults, supporting updates to diagnostic equipment, and delivering on-site guidance and training to engineering teams. The technician will share technical information and best practices with colleagues and attend training courses to maintain technical knowledge. The role reports to the Engineering Manager and works closely with the Head of Engineering on future projects. The position is based at Caledonia Depot, 100 Cathcart Road, Glasgow, G42 7BH. It is a 37-hour-per-week role, Monday to Friday on dayshift, with negotiable start and finish times. Overtime is available. Salary is £55,000 per annum.
Requirements
- Level 4 hybrid EV training.
- Minimum Level 3 SVQ/NVQ in PSV or HGV mechanics.
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Good IT literacy.
- Strong communication skills and an interest in supporting colleagues.
- Ability to attend training courses away from home when required.
- Right to work in the UK; applicants will undergo background checks as part of recruitment.
Nice To Haves
- PSV or HGV experience.
- REME qualification and experience as an ex-Forces applicant.
- Experience as an engineer in another automotive sector.
