About The Position

The Master Production Scheduler develops and maintains the master production schedule to align customer demand, production capacity, and inventory strategies. This role plays a central part in the Sales & Operations Planning (SIOP) process by balancing supply and demand while optimizing service levels, inventory turns, and operational efficiency. The position serves as a key liaison between Operations, Procurement, and Commercial teams, driving schedule execution, data integrity, and continuous improvement across the supply chain.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of master scheduling, MRP, and production planning principles.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, such as Epicor or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis, reporting, and scenario modeling.
  • 5–7 years of experience in production planning, master scheduling, or supply chain planning.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a medical device or other regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • APICS / ASCM CPIM or an equivalent professional certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to support SIOP processes and cross-functional planning.
  • Experience leading or supporting continuous improvement initiatives related to planning and scheduling.
  • Comfort working with KPIs, dashboards, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to mentor and support junior planners and scheduling personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage the master production schedule based on demand forecasts, customer orders, and capacity constraints.
  • Translate demand plans into executable production schedules that align with manufacturing capabilities and material availability.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and proactively adjust plans to address changes in demand, supply disruptions, or capacity limitations.
  • Balance inventory levels, service targets, and production efficiency through effective schedule management.
  • Actively participate in the SIOP process by providing supply planning inputs, capacity analysis, and scenario modeling.
  • Collaborate with Demand Planning, Procurement, and Operations to ensure alignment between forecasts, supply plans, and inventory strategies.
  • Identify and communicate risks and opportunities related to capacity, materials, and service levels.
  • Evaluate production capacity and constraints and recommend adjustments to optimize throughput and meet customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Materials Planning teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
  • Support inventory optimization initiatives, including safety stock strategies and reduction of excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters, lead times, and scheduling data within ERP systems.
  • Ensure data integrity to support effective master production schedule (MPS) and material requirements planning (MRP) execution.
  • Leverage ERP and related system tools to improve automation, planning accuracy, and visibility.
  • Track and report key performance indicators such as schedule adherence, on-time delivery, capacity utilization, and inventory performance.
  • Analyze planning and scheduling data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards for leadership review and decision-making.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on planning accuracy, lead-time reduction, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to resolve scheduling conflicts and improve workflow.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards, including FDA and ISO requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to supply planners and scheduling personnel.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for scheduling processes and ERP planning tools.
  • Assist in training and onboarding new team members.
