About The Position
The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of police officer and emergency response functions.
Requirements
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
- Possession of or ability to obtain a North Carolina Intermediate Law Enforcement Certification within eighteen (18) months from date of hire.
- Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities
- Performs special investigations, interviews and interrogates suspects and witnesses, and investigates major violations and accidents.
- Enforces laws and ordinances by writing tickets, making arrests, serving subpoenas, and answering citizen complaints.
- Patrols assigned district, including streets, neighborhoods, and businesses and answers calls for service.
- Prepares reports, search warrants, documents and incident files.
- Performs field operations by conducting surveillance, organizing and directing officers and law enforcement agencies, and executing search and arrest warrants.
- Attends preliminary trial meetings and testifies in court if necessary.
- Perform supervisory duties in absence of Sergeant.
- Performs other similar duties as required.
