About The Position

The Fayetteville Police Department is currently accepting applications for Police Officers. Applicants hired as inexperienced Police Officers will attend the January 2027 Academy. BLET certified candidates and Lateral Officers applications will be processed continuously for consideration. Applicants being considered for lateral hire may be credited on the step plan based upon the actual number of years of law enforcement experience, to the extent that prior law enforcement experience is determined to be substantially similar to the experience the applicant would have obtained had the applicant been employed by the City of Fayetteville Police Department (FPD) during that time. Requirements

• Must attach a signed and notarized copy of the Authorization and Release to Obtain Information form to the application.
• BLET certified candidates.
• Applicants must comply with Sessions Law 2025-16 regarding criminal history record checks.
• Must complete psychological, polygraph and medical examinations prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Attend the January 2027 Academy (for inexperienced applicants).
• Undergo SBI/Fingerprinting Criminal History Record Check.
• Participate in the selection process which includes initial application screening, a written test, a physical agility test, a panel interview, and a background investigation.
• Complete psychological, polygraph, and medical examinations prior to hire.
