About The Position

Van-Am Tool & Engineering is seeking a Master Machinist to join its precision manufacturing team in St. Joseph, Missouri. This full-time role follows a four-day, 10-hour schedule, Monday through Thursday, in a dynamic and technically advanced shop environment. The Master Machinist programs, sets up, and operates CNC machines to produce complex, tight-tolerance parts for aerospace, defense, and other high-demand industries. The role applies advanced machining knowledge, craftsmanship, and problem-solving to support quality and efficiency across the shop. Van-Am Tool & Engineering is a federal government contractor and maintains a drug-free workplace. Candidates who receive a conditional job offer must complete a pre-employment drug test, including testing for marijuana. Requirements

Extensive CNC machining experience in both lathe and mill operations.
Mastery of machining principles and problem-solving skills.
Strong blueprint-reading and metrology knowledge.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Excellent communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

Program, set up, and operate CNC lathes, mills, and multi-axis machining centers.
Interpret engineering blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues.
Mentor less experienced machinists and support team development.
Ensure parts meet AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality requirements.
Maintain efficiency, accuracy, and safety in every operation.
