About The Position

CACI is seeking a Master HVAC Technician to support a mission-critical client at Fort Meade. The technician inspects HVAC systems and components—including heating units, building exhaust fans, and ventilation units—to evaluate their condition, identify repairs, and recommend or perform preventive maintenance. The role also includes cleaning, lubricating, and repacking system components. The position supports critical environmental and energy systems, computerized controls, and air-quality monitoring systems in US-only areas of INSCOM Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs). It includes troubleshooting and maintaining complex commercial, industrial, tactical, and strategic HVAC/R systems, producing classified technical documentation, and providing expert technical assistance in a 24-hour operational environment. Periodic worldwide deployments and support for US Army systems at locations in the United States and abroad are required, potentially in hazardous environments.

Requirements

  • College, vocational school, or high school diploma or equivalent, plus a combination of 10 years of education and experience leading to Master HVAC licensure or equivalent state-level licensure or certification; alternatively, 12 years of equivalent Military HVAC training and certification experience.
  • EPA 608 Type II or Universal certification, or North American Technician Excellence (NATE) certification.
  • Specific experience in fault isolation and resolution of tactical and strategic environmental systems and their sophisticated electronic support systems.
  • Ability to plan, install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and systems not fully covered by technical manuals or schematics.
  • Four years of experience with HVAC control and monitoring systems and their components.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Expert-level experience in the design, installation, and sustainment of computer-controlled environmental systems in mobile secure facilities.
  • Ability to meet US Government-accepted and industry standards for technically complex computer environmental systems, uninterrupted power distribution systems, and power control equipment.
  • US citizenship.
  • Final Top Secret clearance based on a Tier 5 Background Investigation and favorable eligibility determination for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) in accordance with ICD 704.
  • Ability to maneuver in small spaces and lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Track routine and preventive maintenance to ensure HVAC system availability; troubleshoot complex HVAC/R problems and extensive repairs.
  • Respond to service calls and preventive maintenance inspections, and report malfunctioning or inoperable equipment through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Respond to emergency situations during and after hours, diagnose system problems or failures, and identify repair or replacement needs.
  • Install, repair, and maintain large commercial and industrial ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning, and cooling systems.
  • Independently perform recurring work on exhaust fans, boilers, air handlers, pumps, motors, air dryers, HVAC controls, monitoring systems, and related equipment.
  • Install, modify, overhaul, repair, and maintain complex HVAC equipment and associated auxiliary and control equipment.
  • Coordinate with engineering or scientific personnel on plans, modifications, and user needs; review plans, specifications, or drawings and determine equipment size, shape, and location.
  • Design, modify, maintain, and repair critical environmental and energy support systems and sensitive computerized controls and air-quality monitoring systems in INSCOM SCIFs.
  • Provide technical support for SCIF security requirements, including sound baffling techniques and equipment and resolution of compromising electrical currents.
  • Produce classified technical documentation detailing findings and recommendations.
  • Design and perform emergency, non-routine fault isolation of smoke-removal systems and fire-detection and suppression equipment at sensitive military installations.
  • Diagnose and maintain complex electronic environmental systems, including scheduling, calibration, and lubrication of components and controls used to maintain precise SCIF environmental conditions.
  • Deploy periodically worldwide in strategic and tactical mobile-facility environments and provide expert technical assistance in a 24-hour operational environment with limited documentation.
  • Respond to off-duty evening and weekend calls for critical system outages; rapidly isolate and resolve environmental issues affecting ISR system performance and develop technical documentation for ISR support-system layouts.
  • Support US Army systems onsite wherever deployed, including deployments to other countries or theaters for quick-reaction technical support to US forces and military contingency missions.
  • Maneuver in small spaces and lift up to 50 pounds.
